Repeat Prescriptions
We regret that we will be unable to facilitate attendances in person for repeat prescriptions..
If you are running low on medicines we would ask you that you post a written request to us either via An Post or through the secure letter box in the side door of the surgery (next to the entrance to O'Carrolls Pharmacy). On your written medicines request please include the following information
1. Your name, address and contact telephone number
2. The name and quantity of each medicine that you are requesting.
3. The pharmacy at which your medicines are dispensed.
We will where possible send a prescription to your chosen pharmacy once one of our GPs has had the opportunity to review your written request. Usual prescription charges will apply for non-medical card holders.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation
Telephone Difficulties Dec '21
Dear Patient,

Important Notice Regarding Surgery Arrangements during the Covid-19 Coronavirus issue.
Dear Patient,
WHERLANDS LANE SURGERY IS OPEN.
Wherlands Lane surgery has been open throughout the COVID pandemic. We have put in place a number of measures to ensure safety of patients and staff. Below is an outline of the changes we have made:
-
Before an appointment is given, all patients will require a telephone triage to ensure they do not have symptoms suggestive of COVID 19 infection. If they do, the doctor will ring them back and arrange for COVID testing if appropriate.
-
The nurse or doctor will do the "talking" part of the consultation over the phone. This is to minimise the time a patient spends in the surgery.
-
If a face to face consultation is necessary, an appointment to attend will be given.
-
On arrival at surgery, you will be asked to phone or ring the bell and will be admitted to surgery. The waiting room is closed for the foreseeable future and only a limited number of patients will be admitted to surgery at a a time and only by appointment.
-
Your temperature will be checked before the appointment begins.
-
All staff will be wearing face masks or visors and doctors and nurses will be wearing appropriate PPE.
-
All surfaces will be cleaned between patients and hand disinfectant will be available to patients before leaving surgery.
-
You are please required to wear a mask when attending the surgery
These changes are made with your safety in mind and to allow us to continue to care for all patients medical conditions. It may mean delays at times and we thank you for your patience and co-operation.
-
Please continue to contact us by telephone in relation to your health concerns, whether Covid 19-related or not. It is very important that our patients do not delay treatment for other potentially serious conditions during the Covid crisis. Our GPs are readily available by telephone to provide advice and to make an appointment for you to attend the surgery by appointment if necessary.
-
Please note that all general enquiries regarding Covid 19 should be addressed with the HSE at https://www2.hse.ie/coronavirus/ or 1850-24-1850
-
Up to date travel information is available from www.dfa.ie.
-
Please note that all patients requesting Covid 19 testing will require a preliminary telephone assessment with a GP. If you have respiratory symptoms (cough, shortness of breath) or temperature please ensure that you self-isolate immediately in accordance with HSE guidelines until you have spoken with one of our GPs and received further guidance. You can find information about how to self-isolate on our Useful Links page.
-
If you are not a patient of Wherlands Lane Medical Centre and if you have been unable to register with a GP in Cork, we are happy to offer you a telephone assessment if you are worried that you may have developed Covid 19 infection
-
Please see our guidance below regarding ordering repeat prescriptions.
-
Forms and certs can be posted with a cover letter into the letter box on side door of surgery (door nearest O Carroll’s) or sent via An Post. It will not be possible for now for patients to enter the surgery for matters relating to certs & forms.
-
Please attend alone for your appointment unless you need a family member or friend to be with you. Children not in need of treatment or assessment should not accompany you.
-
